Aethelred II, 978-1016. Helmet type,1003-1009. Silver, 1.37 grams. 19.38 mm. Obverse: Bust left wearing armour and radiate helmet, +AETHELRED REX ANGLO. Reverse: Long cross voided, each limb terminating in three crescents, over square with trefoil at each point. +EADMVND MO LVND. Moneyer Edmund at the London mint. Ref: N 775, BMC VIII, Spink 1152.
